Central Railway services hit between Thane and Airoli due to girder glitch, commuters stranded
Thousands of passengers and office-goers using the Central Railway’s trans-Harbour line and main line were stranded on Friday morning due to the sudden suspension of services following a “technical fault” at the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) bridge between Thane and Airoli.
While the trains running on the main line were delayed by more than 30 minutes, the Trans-Harbour line services were stopped after 8 am, authorities said.
The Central Railway confirmed that the services would return to normal by 10 am. Authorities informed that safety inspections were in progress and services would be resumed only after clearance from structural experts.
