IOC chief Thomas Bach on Tuesday slammed the suspended global governing body of boxing — the International Boxing Association (IBA) headed by Russian Umar Kremlev — for their lack of integrity as the sport finds itself out of the initial program for Los Angeles 2028. International Boxing Association to be stripped of recognition-IOC

The International Olympic Committee executive board on Wednesday recommended withdrawing recognition of the International Boxing Association (IBA) over its failure to meet a set of reforms but also confirmed that the sport would be part of the Los Angeles 2028 summer Games. The IOC suspended the IBA in 2019 over governance, finance, refereeing and ethical issues and did not involve it in running the boxing events at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. It had also provisionally excluded the sport from the Los Angeles 2028 Games. The International Boxing Association (IBA) on Monday upped the ante in its battle for control of Olympic boxing by accusing the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of misuse of information about its officials. In an open letter to IOC chief Thomas Bach and executive board members before their meeting in Lausanne on Tuesday, the IBA said it had “deep concerns” regarding basic IOC governance, impartiality and transparency principles during the monitoring process ahead of next year’s Paris Olympics.
