(Photo: Reuters) Though there has been no official update on his fitness, those in the know say that Bumrah, who reportedly underwent surgery on his injury-prone lower back recently in New Zealand, might be out of action for most of this year, ruling him out of the Indian Premier League, the World Test Championship final and even the 50-over World Cup in October-November. Ind vs Aus, 3rd ODI | Pitch was challenging in second half, we failed to build partnerships: Rohit

India’s captain Rohit Sharma, left, reacts as Australia’s Adam Zampa and Mitchell Starc walk off the field at the end of their innings during the third ODI in Chennai, on March 22, 2023 | Photo Credit: AP Poor application and their failure to build substantial partnerships was the reason for India's downfall while chasing a target of 270, which wasn't much according to skipper Rohit Sharma. India lost a bilateral ODI series at home after four years and it was Australia under Aaron Finch that had beaten Virat Kohli's side back in 2019. "I don't think it was too many runs (269). The wicket was a little challenging towards the second half. I don't think we batted well. Partnerships are crucial, and we failed to do that today," Sharma said at the end of the match. In fact, what he found d...

‘I doubt if players will take breaks during IPL’ says Rohit Sharma who urges IPL franchises and Indian players to take care of their bodies

With a few Indian players struggling with injuries, from Jasprit Bumrah to Shreyas Iyer, much focus has been on how the IPL franchises handle the players considering the ODI world cup will be played in October this year. However, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma reckons he “doubts if that (players taking breaks during IPL) will happen but.” “It’s all up to the franchises now. They own them now. We have given some indications to the teams but at the end of the day, its upto the franchises. And more importantly, its up to the players. They are all adults; they have to look after their bodies. If they feel it’s getting a bit too much, they can talk about it and take a break in one or two games. I doubt if that will happen, but,” said Rohit after India went down in the series decider to Aust...

It was a West Indies attempting to rebuild with a younger side led by Clive Lloyd. They had two promising batsmen making their debut — Gordon Greenidge and Viv Richards, and a young Andy Roberts who carried the legacy of fast bowling on his shoulders. For a team known for thril...

Five straight losses at start spoiled our chances: Heather Knight
