Expressing dissatisfaction over the diversion of funds from his ministry by the Finance Ministry led by NCP’s Ajit Pawar, Shiv Sena leader and Social Justice Department Minister Sanjay Shirsat asserted Monday that the Maharashtra government cannot increase the payments under the Ladki Bahin scheme to Rs 2,100 as promised. The Ladki Bahin Yojana, launched in July 2024, provides Rs 1,500 per month to women whose annual family income does not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is set to scrap 11 construction contracts worth Rs 26,300 crore that were awarded by the Eknath Shinde government to seven civil engineering firms for constructing the first phase, totaling 96.47 km, of the ambitious 126-km Virar–Alibaug Multi-Modal Corridor (VAMMC) project. The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will be making approximately 15 crore official documents publicly available soon, calling it ‘voluntary RTI provision’. This was announced by Sanjeev Jaiswal, vice-president and Chief Executive Officer, MHADA at the inauguration of the Citizen Facilitation Centre (CFC) and Visitor Management System (VMS) on Monday. The step seeks to make the administrative procedures simple and decrease the requirement for the citizens to seek Right to Information (RTI) applications. “Through the availability of these documents online, we are facilitating hassle-free information access to the citizens.
