Popular South Indian actor Ram Charan was recently spotted wearing a luxury timepiece with a striking puzzle-shaped dial. The Rolex Day-Date Puzzle Dial (Reference: 128235) gleamed on the Telugu star’s wrist as he attended an Indian Street Premier League match. Its market price has soared to a staggering $250,000, approximately Rs 2.16 crore.
What makes the Rolex Day-Date Puzzle Dial special?
Crafted from 18-carat yellow, white, or Everose gold, these watches have adopted an original face. Instead of displaying the day of the week, the arc-shaped aperture at 12 o’clock shows an inspirational keyword such as “Happy,” “Eternity,” “Gratitude,” “Peace,” “Faith,” “Love,” or “Hope”. The window at 3 o’clock replaces the traditional date function with one of 31 exclusive emojis.
Made entirely from champleve enameling, the dial showcases a motif inspired by a jigsaw puzzle. “Turquoise blue, red, fuchsia, orange, green and yellow pieces fit together on a single-colour background, each representing one of the key moments in life. The hours are marked by 10 baguette-cut sapphires in six different hues set according to the main colour of the dial, which is turquoise blue on the 18-carat yellow gold and 18-carat white gold versions, and orange on the watch in 18-carat Everose gold,” read the official Rolex newsroom website.
The new versions of the Day-Date 36 are powered by the calibre 3255 movement, a movement at the forefront of watchmaking technology.

Legacy of the Rolex Day-Date
The Day-Date was a major innovation since its launch in 1956. It was the first calendar wristwatch to indicate, in addition to the date, the day of the week spelt out in full in an arc-shaped window at 12 o’clock on the dial – a major technical feat at the time. The day of the week is available in a choice of 26 languages. Watches in the Day-Date range are made only of precious metals – 18-carat yellow, white or Everose gold, or 950 platinum.
Worn by many of the world’s political figures, directors and visionaries, the Day-Date is a notable and recognisable time piece, thanks to its emblematic “President” bracelet, which has eventually given it the name “Presidents’ Watch”.
