Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate two new Road Over Bridges (ROB) — at Reay Road and Titwala — on Tuesday.
The 383-metre Reay Road ROB, is Mumbai’s first land-based cable-stayed bridge and will connect Mahul road near the Eastern Freeway to Barrister Nath Pai Marg in Byculla.

Built at a cost of Rs 273 crore, this six-lane bridge will ease traffic on Byculla-Mazgaon route, offering a much-needed east-west connectivity across the congested Harbour railway line, saving up to 30 minutes of commuters’ time. Work on the bridge began in February 2022 and was finished in two years. It was constructed by the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation.
The 820-metre long Titwala ROB is a four-lane flyover at the new Titwala Railway Station on the Kalyan Ring Road. Jointly developed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) at a cost of Rs 100 crore, the bridge will enhance traffic flow between Ambivili and Kalyan, particularly near the famous Shree Siddhivinayak Ganesh Mandir that attracts thousands of pilgrims.
One of the key benefits of the Titwala ROB is that it will eliminate the need for level crossing gates that open and close over 25 times a day. The continuous stopping of trains and vehicles results in delays to over 50 train services every day by as much as 10 minutes each. With the ROB in operation, both road and rail traffic will be able to travel without any hindrance.
“The Reay Road bridge will benefit commercial vehicles, ambulances and daily office-goers who used to face long detours or jam-packed roads to cross the railway line. In Titwala, the new ROB will provide access between townships and also enable Mumbaikars to visit the temple town with ease,” an MRIDC official said.
