Abhishek Sharma went on a rampage against the England bowlers in the fifth Twenty20 international in Mumbai on Sunday (February 2, 2025).
Sharma became the highest individual scorer for India in the Twenty20 internationals. He was dismissed for 135 off just 54 balls. Sharma overtook Shubhman Gill’s record of 126, which he scored against New Zealand in 2023.
England won the toss and sent India to bat in the final T20I, and the host nation made the most of it, putting up a target of 248. England wilted under pressure to be bowled out for a paltry 97 in the 11th over to hand India a 150-run win. The victory meant Suryakumar Yadav laid his hands on the trophy, with the series ending 4-1 in the host’s favour.

Opener Sanju Samson scored two sixes in the opening over by Jofra Archer. After the wicket of Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Verma went for quick runs and hit the England bowlers to all parts of ground.
Abhishek Sharma completed his century in just 37 balls, two balls short of Rohit Sharma’s record for the fastest centurycentury in T20 international by an Indian. Rohit managed the feat in just 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017.
