Gautam Gambhir, serving as India’s new coach, managed his first test series. Earlier this year, he led the team in a white-ball series against Sri Lanka. Key players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravichandran Ashwin have returned, with Rohit Sharma continuing as captain.
India has chosen three pacers and two spinners for their bowling attack. Jasprit Bumrah leads the pace attack along with Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep, who made his debut against England in Ranchi. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja form the spin duo.
Bangladesh also opted for a three-pacer combination, including Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, and Nahid Rana. All-rounders Shakib al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz will manage the spin duties. Bangladesh currently stands in fourth place in the World Test Championship table after a 2-0 home victory over Pakistan.
The second test between Bangladesh and India is scheduled to begin on Sept. 27 in Kanpur, followed by a series of three Twenty20 matches.
