The Bombay High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Mithu Singh and co-accused Abdul Jabbar Ansari, booked for the alleged murder of MBBS student Sadiccha Sane in November 2021.

A single-judge bench of Justice Shivkumar G Dige passed an order on bail applications of Singh and Ansari after the sessions court rejected their plea in December and October 2023. Detailed order will be made available in due course.

Singh claimed that there was no evidence to link him with Sane’s disappearance and there was no motive shown against him to commit a murder.

On November 29, 2021, Sane, a resident of Palghar, was on her way to write an exam and she alighted the Mumbai-bound local train to reach Bandra station but went to Bandra reclamation instead of the exam centre. As she did not return home, her family members filed a missing person complaint. As per police probe, she was last seen at Bandra reclamation with Singh.

After Sane disappeared, Singh, who worked as a lifeguard, was arrested in January 2023 for the offence of murder and it was alleged that she was last seen with him and her body was not found. The police had arrested Ansari alleging there were calls between him and Singh on the day of incident.
