Discussed Global Peace Summit With PM Modi, Rely On India’s Participation: Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his Lok Sabha success and discussed the upcoming Global Peace Summit with the Indian PM.

Zelenskyy said he relies on India’s participation at the highest level at the Global Peace Summit and invited PM Modi to visit Ukraine at a convenient time.

“I spoke with Prime Minister of India @NarendraModi to congratulate him on his election victory. I wished him a speedy formation of the government and continued productive work for the benefit of the Indian people. We discussed the upcoming Global Peace Summit. We rely on India’s participation at the highest level. I also invited Prime Minister Modi to visit Ukraine at a convenient time,” the Ukraine President said in a post on X.

Global Peace Summit is scheduled to be held this month in Switzerland as Ukraine looks to strengthen international support for its peace plan in view of the ongoing Ukraine war.

The peace summit will be held on June 15-16 at Bürgenstock Hotel above Lake Lucerne in Switzerland.

As per a report in Hindustan Times, while India is expected to be among the countries attending the conference, New Delhi will not be represented by PM Modi or the external affairs minister.

Last year, the meeting was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval had attended the summit.

This year, around 107 countries and international organizations have pledged to attend the event in Switzerland, as per Vlodymyr Zelensky’s spokesperson Serhii Nykyforov.
