
The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested a 19-year-old youth for his alleged involvement in the brutal murder of a 28-year-old man in June last year.
The accused has been identified as Kshetrapal alias Sagar, a resident of Shahbad Dair.
On June 30, 2024, the victim, Sunny, was brought to BSA Hospital in Rohini by relatives, and the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The victim had sustained stab wounds near his private parts and elsewhere on his body, said the police.
The police filed a murder case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 302, 147, 148, 149, and 34, and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at the Shahbad Dairy police station.
According to the police, the investigation revealed that Sunny had a prior dispute with one Ajay, who, along with his associates, including the arrested accused, allegedly attacked and fatally stabbed Sunny.
Acting on the intelligence developed by ASI Sunil Kumar, the Crime Branch team mounted technical surveillance and monitored the activities of the accused’s associates and family, said the police.

On Friday, they learned that Kshetrapal would be near Sunehri Chowk to meet a friend.
A trap was laid, and Kshetrapal was apprehended.
He was arrested under Section 41(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) after confessing his role in the crime during interrogation.
“On the day of the incident, he (Kshetrapal), along with his associates, namely Ajay, Guddu, Daddu, Chetan, Deepak, Roshan, Prakash, and others, were going together and somehow met with Sunny on the way. A verbal altercation started between them. Amidst the quarrel, Ajay first slapped Sunny, and then all the accused started beating him. All the accused caught hold of the deceased, and Ajay took out a knife and stabbed the deceased. After that, all of them ran away from there, knowing that Sunny was dead,” said Harsh Indora, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch.

According to the police, Kshetrapal dropped out after Class 8 due to financial hardships and a lack of interest in studies.
He worked as a labourer while his parents were engaged in factory work.
Falling into bad company, particularly that of Ajay, he eventually became involved in criminal activities, leading to his participation in Sunny’s murder, said the police.
