Delhi Police ASI caught ‘red-handed’ while receiving bribe to allow retired cop carry out house renovation

Delhi Police Bribe News: The Delhi Police Monday night arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) for allegedly seeking and receiving bribe from a retired police inspector in connection with some renovation work at the latter’s house.

The arrested ASI has been identified as Sudesh, who was posted at the Model Town police station, and the retired inspector resided in an area under its jurisdiction.

Aslam Khan, Additional Commissioner of Police, confirmed the arrest and said, “The retired inspector gave a complaint four days ago. He claimed he was doing some renovation work at his house and the ASI demanded Rs 4 lakh of bribe. On Monday night, when the victim was handing over Rs 2 lakh, he was caught red-handed.”

However, It is unclear why the ASI was seeking bribe from the retired inspector for renovation works at his house.

According to the police, the victim provided a voice recording of the accused police officer, in which he is heard demanding money. A case of corruption has been registered at the Vigilance police station. The police are also investigating whether the station house officer (SHO) of the Model Town police station was involved, as the ASI requested the bribe and mentioned the SHO’s name.
