Ajinkya Rahane’s form in IPL 2023 puts him in contention for World Test Championship final spot

Few days before the start of the ongoing Indian Premier League season as Chennai Super Kings played an intra-squad practice fixture, one of the notable absentees was Ajinkya Rahane. In a game where the likes of Shivam Dube, Devon Conway and Moeen Ali batted twice, Rahane didn’t get an opportunity to bat. Instead, he headed to the practice facilities at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, where he faced a few throwdowns and batted against net bowlers. He cut a lonely figure that day as he quietly trained away from all the attention as even the support staff were engrossed in what was happening in the middle. That looks like a long time ago now. After 33 matches into the IPL, Rahane is sitting at the top of the strike rate charts (189) for any batsman who has faced a minimum of 100 deliveries. Thi...

DC vs SRH IPL Live Score, IPL 2023: Laggards Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals look to move up – The Times of India

The Delhi bowling unit got its act together and put up a stellar display to restrict KKR to 127 but the Delhi batters, barring skipper Warner and deputy Axar Patel, failed once again as the hosts huffed and puffed to the win. Much was expected of Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh but the two have been huge letdowns so far this season. Scores of 12, 7, 0, 15, 0 and 13, in the six outings have highlighted Shaw's inability to tackle pace and spin, and a quick-fix is unlikely.!(function(f, b, e, v, n, t, s) { function loadFBEvents(isFBCampaignActive) { if (!isFBCampaignActive) { return; } (function(f, b, e, v, n, t, s) { if (f.fbq) return; n = f.fbq = function() { n.callMethod ? n.callMethod(...arguments) : n.queue.push(arguments); ...

Govt panel’s preliminary report silent on allegations against Brij Bhushan, defers Wrestling federation elections amidst protests

Even as the wrestlers continued their stir against the Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the government shot off a letter to Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha, asking the body to ‘suitable interim arrangements for managing WFI’. The government, which also put on hold the WFI elections scheduled to take place on May 7, has asked the IOA to form an ad-hoc committee to conduct the elections within 45 days of its formation. Ajinkya Rahane: ‘Picture abhi baaki hai’: Bought at his base price, Ajinkya Rahane reveling in new found role for CSK | Cricket News – Times of India

The last time Ajinkya Rahane played a T20 international for India was back in August 2016, against the West Indies in Lauderhill, Florida. He opened the batting with Rohit Sharma in India's chase of 144. He was unbeaten on 4 off 4 balls when the match was called off due to rain. This was the second and final T20I of the series, which the Windies won 1-0 (having won the first game by 1 run). Rahane's attempt to prove that he can still be an effective T20 batter was cut short when the skies opened up over Lauderhill that day. He hasn't featured in an Indian T20I line up since then. MS Dhoni was still the India captain, Amit Mishra was part of the playing XI and Dwayne Bravo was still playing international cricket. Needless to say, this was a fair bit ago. Rahane's last appearance for Indi...
