IPL 2022: Varun Chakravarthy looks to up his game with new variation | Cricket News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Kolkata Knight Riders' mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy is not worried about a rather quiet start to this IPL season and is banking on a new variation to become an improved bowler. The 30-year-old leg-spinner was the highest wicket taker for KKR last season with 18 wickets from 17 matches and this season, he has got just four wickets from five games. "It is bound to happen, people will have plans against me. Last year in the Indian leg, I had six to seven wickets in seven matches. Later on, I picked up more wickets, so you cannot predict how many wickets you are going to get," Chakravarthy said. "I am working on a new variation which I am looking forward to bowl more. If it starts clicking well it will definitely add a new dimension to my game," he said ahead of KKR's match ag...

Prosecutors call for Diego Maradona medical staff to face trial | Football News – Times of India

BUENOS AIRES: Prosecutors investigating the 2020 death of Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona have asked that the medical staff who treated him be tried for negligent homicide. In their request Wednesday, the prosecutors said "omissions" and mismanagement by eight medical professionals in charge of Maradona placed him in a "situation of helplessness" and abandoned him "to his fate" during his home hospitalization, according to the court filing cited by the official Telam news agency. Maradona died at age 50 in 2020 while recovering from brain surgery for a blood clot, and after decades of battles with cocaine and alcohol addictions. Neurosurgeon and family doctor Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov are under investigation over his death as the main people responsible fo...

I am not concerned about Rohit’s form: MI coach Mahela Jayawardene

Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene says it’s just a “matter of time” before skipper Rohit Sharma plays a big knock, something which his team desperately needs to arrest its slide in IPL-15. The MI captain has failed to capitalize on the starts, managing just 108 runs at an average of 21.60 this season. “If you look at the way he starts, the way he hits the ball, it’s brilliant. He’s timing it, he’s getting some really, really good starts. Yes, he’s disappointed as well, that he’s not being able to convert them,” Jayawardene said. “We’ve seen Rohit batting deep, batting for 14-15 overs and getting those big scores. It’s just a matter of time. He’s a quality player and I am not concerned about the form as such.” Mahela Jayawardene says it’s just a “matter of time” before skipper Roh...

IPL 2022: Shivam Dube turns from villain to hero for Chennai Super Kings, all in a week’s time | Cricket News – Times of India

It was just about a week ago that Shivam Dube became the villain for Chennai Super Kings fans. He had conceded 25 runs in the 19th over and CSK failed to protect 210 after being in the driving seat for 38 overs. Had it been some other franchise, the pressure would have increased on Dube. But not when it's CSK. Rather, the team management internally assessed that it was a mistake on their part to give the 19th over to Dube and started treating him purely as a batsman. The results came quick - a quickfire half-century against Punjab Kings was followed by a match-winning 95* against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Suddenly, the 28-year-old Mumbai boy is in the centre of conversation, and CSK are insisting that they picked him knowing about his abilities. "Generally MS Dhoni hits the biggest s...
