Cracking its whip against unauthorised constructions in the ecologically sensitive Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished over five illegal multi-storey buildings in Versova and is set to demolish 35 more such structures in the coming days.

According to the civic body, the buildings were illegally constructed over the past one year without acquiring any permission.

Located in Versova, the constructions were undertaken at the ecologically sensitive marshland that falls within the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) in the area. Officials said the concerned persons were issued multiple notices of eviction in the past, before they demolished the five unauthorised multi-storey structures in the area on Friday.
