
A missed shot at a head constable and a brief scuffle later, a man with 33 cases against him, including that of raping a woman at gunpoint, was arrested over the weekend by the Delhi Police.
According to the Delhi Police Crime Branch, Javed, 37, a man with a criminal record at the Khayal Police Station, was on the run since December 2024, when he committed the alleged rape.
The police said they received information that Javed would come to Wazirabad Saturday, and a team laid a trap in the area to arrest him. Javed was spotted getting off his motorcycle at the Jagatpur Pusta road. and was asked to verify his identity. Instead of complying, the police said, Javed took out a pistol and shot at Head Constable Vikas, missing his ears by a whisker.
“Vikas caught hold of the accused Javed. Both got into a scuffle and then fell on the ground. Javed couldn’t fire again and was then arrested,” Harsh Indora, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) said.
According to the police, Javed raped his friend’s wife at gunpoint in the Nabi Karim area in December 2024. “The lady filed a complaint in January 2025, saying that in May 2024, she came into contact with a man. She got pregnant with his child, but the man beat her, leading to a miscarriage. In December 2024, Javed came to her. He carried a pistol with him and raped her on gun point,” Indora said.
Javed’s friend was arrested in the case, but he was on the run, the police said.
The police said Javed joined his father’s garment in Chandni Chowk after dropping out in Class 5. After marrying a Hindu girl in 2013, Javed separated from his family, and committed his first crime in the same year, a robbery in Rajouri Garden. It would be the first of 33 cases lodged against him.

“In 2021, he, along with his associates, committed a dacoity at gunpoint in a house in the Uttam Nagar area. He came out of jail in December 2024, and got married the second time in January 2025,” Indora said.
