AFG vs NZ: It was scheduled to be Day 3 of the Afghanistan vs New Zealand one-off Test match but even the toss has not taken place. On Wednesday (September 11), play was called off even before the scheduled start. The outfield was already wet which was the reason play had been called off in the first two days and with a downpour early in the morning, it wasn’t a difficult decision for the on-field umpires to call off the play.

With no proper drainage and a shortage of even ground covers and properly trained ground staff, it is very likely that the AFG vs NZ Test match will be called without a ball being bowled. However, match referee Javagal Srinath along with the on-field umpires can only take the call on Day 5 after making an official inspection. Till then, it would be a long wait for fans. Neither teams, however, reported to the venue on Day 3 after it started raining.

If AFG vs NZ Test gets called off without a ball being bowled, it will be the first such instance in Test cricket since 1998.
