Manchester City great Kevin De Bruyne could be on bench in his final home game for club

Kevin De Bruyne may be a legend at Manchester City, having inspired the club to 16 trophies in his 10 years at the club, but that does not seem to have guaranteed him a starting spot in the first XI for his final home game at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday. When the ongoing Premier League season ends, De Bruyne ends his association with the Manchester club, which he joined from Bundesliga club Wolfsburg in 2015 with six Premier League titles and the Champions League title in 2023 to his name. City manager Pep Guardiola said he could not promise a start for the playmaker with the club in the race to secure Champions League qualification. De Bruyne played the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final on Saturday. Now with the home game against Bournemouth in the P...

Mamata warns teachers not to cross ‘Lakshman Rekha’ of agitation: ‘Fight issue legally’

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has warned protesting teachers not to cross the “Lakshman Rekha” of andolan (agitation), urging them to pursue legal avenues instead of stage dharnas.“We are all humans. We can love those who have respect for humanity. I am not against andolan. However, there is a ‘Lakshman Rekha’ for an andolan. Just like I cannot stop anyone, nobody can stop me either. I would suggest they fight the issue legally. We will help them—we are already doing so. We are not against them,” Banerjee said. On April 3, the Supreme Court termed the 2016 School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment process as “vitiated and tainted by fraud”, and upheld a Calcutta High Court order on an alleged school jobs scam case. Here’s what to do if your sugar levels reach 350 mg/dL regularly after meals

It is common for the blood sugar levels to rise a little after a meal. But is it okay if it spikes to 350 mg/dL? Dr Manisha Arora, director, internal medicine, CK Birla Hospital, Delhi, said if there is inadequate insulin production or if the body develops insulin resistance — where insulin is either not effectively produced or cannot be utilised properly due to being trapped in fat cells (adipocytes) — the glucose remains in the bloodstream, leading to high blood sugar levels.Notably, insulin is secreted in two primary ways: basal secretion, which occurs even during fasting, and bolus secretion, which is triggered by food intake. Consuming high-glycemic or carbohydrate-rich foods, such as sweets or cakes, can rapidly elevate blood sugar. Other contributing factors include the use of certa...

Jaishankar is the latest in a long line of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders who have acted similarly in the past, the Congress said, claiming that former prime minister Morarji Desai belonged to the same category. Desai, a prominent Congress leader until his fallout with Indira Gandhi, was the first non-Congress prime minister of India as part of the Janata alliance, which later became the Janata Party, in 1977.
