India, Pakistan drawn in Davis Cup again, PTF refuses to play at neutral venue

After both won home ties to qualify for the World Group 1 playoff stage, India and Pakistan have been drawn to play each other in the Davis Cup, with the choice of venue in Pakistan’s hands. But unlike in 2019, when the two nations played their Asia Group 1 tie at a neutral venue in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) president Saifullah Khan has outrightly refused to play anywhere other than in their home country. “We won’t play in a neutral venue. If India does not want to come (to Pakistan), we will not play this tie. We will play on grass courts and the Indians are a better team. And in February-March, the weather is lovely in Islamabad,” Khan told PTI. Four years ago, due to tension in bilateral ties, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) approved India’s r...

Why Indian batters don’t bowl? Blame it on five-fielder rule: Rahul Dravid – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Indian cricket team's inclination to include more all-rounders in recent years can be attributed to the fact that many of the current top-order batters do not contribute as bowlers, unlike some of their esteemed predecessors from earlier generations. The team's eagerness to incorporate utility players like Axar Patel or Washington Sundar stems from two primary concerns: firstly, the top-order batters not being actively involved in bowling duties, and secondly, the lower-order batters not exhibiting enough resilience and skill with the bat.So what has changed?"I think it could be because of the rule change. Suddenly you have gone from four fielders inside the ring to five fielders inside the ring. I think that has drastically changed the ability of part-time bowlers to be a...

He’ll get 50 overs to bat, so it’s a takeoff point for his batting. I think he’s a born leader and he shows that in his game,” Raina said on JioCinema show ‘Home of the Blues: India Heroes’. “The form he’s playing in with his hand speed – it’s extremely strong.
