Middlesex sign Indian all-rounder Jayant Yadav for County Championship | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Middlesex County Cricket Club has secured the services of Indian off-spin all-rounder Jayant Yadav for the crucial final four matches of the ongoing county championship season. This move comes as Middlesex aim to strengthen their squad for the pivotal encounters in September.
In his previous county stint during the 2022 season, Jayant Yadav showcased his skills by claiming 12 wickets in just two appearances for Warwickshire. Now, the 33-year-old cricketer is ready to don the Middlesex colours and make an impact in the upcoming games.

“I am honoured and excited to join the prestigious Middlesex County Cricket Club for the upcoming Championship games and be a part of its rich cricketing history. I enjoyed my experience of playing County cricket last year and am eagerly looking forward to the new stint with Middlesex and contributing to the Club’s success,” said Jayant in a statement, expressing his enthusiasm for this opportunity.
Jayant Yadav brings with him a wealth of international experience, having represented India in six Test matches, where he has taken 16 wickets at an average of 29.06. His notable performance includes his best figures of 4-49 against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in December 2021.

With the bat, Jayant holds the highest Test score of 104, achieved against England in 2016 at Mumbai. His overall Test batting average stands at 31 in nine innings. Moreover, in his first-class career, Jayant has scalped an impressive 205 wickets in 75 matches, with his best bowling figures of 7-58 for his domestic side Haryana, coupled with three centuries showcasing his all-round abilities.
Middlesex fans can look forward to seeing Jayant in action later this week when he joins the team. He will be available for selection in the first of the four pivotal encounters against Essex at Chelmsford next week, followed by matches against Lancashire, Warwickshire, and Nottinghamshire.

Middlesex’s Director of Cricket, Alan Coleman, expressed his excitement about the signing, saying, “With Pieter Malan returning home to South Africa, we wanted to bolster the squad with another quality signing ahead of four crucial matches that lay ahead of us in September. We feel that spin will be an important factor in September, and the opportunity to sign an international spinner of Jayant’s quality was too good an opportunity to turn down.”
“He brings us that extra bit of something you get from an international cricketer, experience, quality, know-how -– all attributes that will prove hugely valuable to us in the coming games. We can’t wait to have him with us and wish him every success here over the coming month.”
