Breaking moves: Kurukshetra teenager is crowned India’s B-boying champion

The banks of the sacred Brahma Sarovar lake or a local park in Kurukshetra are unlikely settings for the power beats of hip-hop and the freezes of Breaking, a style of street dancing known for its rapid acrobatics and gymnastics. But 19-year-old Goutam Kaulsee, or B-Boy Ginni as he calls himself managed to do the unexpected Sunday as he won the men’s title of the Red Bull BC One Cypher at Nesco Center in Mumbai. The cypher (competition) is held across 90 locations in the world to find a winner from each country, who later battle it out for the Breaking World Finals. Simran Ranga (B-Girl Glib), who grew up in Jaipur but has roots in Haryana, took home the women’s crown. B-Boy Ginni’s win bolted out of the blue. Ahead of Mumbai favourites B-Boys Tornado and Wild Child, and Delhi ace B-Boy...

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Nitish Rana was happy that big power hitter Andre Russell had finally come to the party this IPL season, saying he kept “backing” the Jamaican knowing that a match-winning innings was round the corner. KKR defeated Punjab Kings by five wickets, chasing down the 180-run winning target off the last ball of the innings, with Russell scoring a 23-ball 43 studded with three fours and as many maximums. Russell punished PBKS quick Sam Curran in the penultimate over of the innings, hitting the England bowler for three sixes before the West Indian was run out, leaving Rinku Singh to score the winning runs. IPL 2023, KKR vs PBKS Emotional Rollercoaster: Arshdeep’s full tosses in vain, Varun keeps it simple & Andre Russell’s game changing sixes

Low quality ‘thriller’ pans out A bouncer and two full tosses to start the final over when he was defending 6 but somehow it came down to 4 from 3 as the batsmen couldn’t do much with the full tosses. Arshdeep Singh angled the next one wider outside off, making Andre Russell reach out to scoop-slog for a couple of runs. It was followed by a splendid outside-off yorker length squeezed under the bat, and the throw from the wicketkeeper was back at him. Arshdeep collected, turned around calmly, and softly pinged the stumps to beat Russell’s desperate dive. Now 2 were needed from the last ball, and Rinku Singh was on strike. Russell gulped some water down at the dug out. And it couldn’t have been deliberate but what came out was another full toss, his lucky delivery this over but it was sla...

WATCH: Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar reunite at the Wankhede Stadium ahead of the MI-RCB game

Sachin Tendulkar. Virat Kohli. Wankhede Stadium. The trio have a history. Two proverbial passing of the torch moments in Indian cricket. In 2011, as Tendulkar walked back to the pavilion after his dismissal at 31/2 in the World Cup final – in what would be his last World Cup – in came a 22-year-old Kohli, who stitched together a match winning 83-run stand with Gautam Gambhir to bring India back in the game. A short dialogue had taken place between the now top-two century scorers in international cricket, one that was recently revealed by the Tendulkar on Twitter. “The ball is swinging even now,” the veteran would tell the youngster, who’d later win hearts by stating, “He (Tendulkar) has carried the burden of an entire nation on his shoulders. It’s time we carried him on our shoulders.” ...

Two of the best attacking teams in Europe face off in the Champions League semifinals this week, with Manchester City’s record-seeking Erling Haaland going against Real Madrid’s red-hot trio of Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo and Karim Benzema. It will be a rematch of last year’s semifinal, when Madrid got the better of a City team that didn’t have Haaland in the squad. City fell short of European success yet again, while Madrid went on to win a record-extending 14th title. The addition of Haaland could be the difference-maker for Pep Guardiola’s team this time. The 22-year-old Norwegian scored 12 of City’s 26 goals in the Champions League this season. He is five short of Cristiano Ronaldo’s single-season record of 17 goals for Madrid in 2013-14. Rohit lacks consistency at the topRohit's role in this IPL has been to provide brisk starts at the top, and at times he has had some success too, but consistency has deserted the right-arm batter whose early dismissal in huge chases has only added pressure on a relatively new batting line-up, which fortunately, from MI's point of view, has delivered too.
