Vinesh outrage prompts stars to lend their voice: Pained, hope for justice
A DAY after World Championship medallist Vinesh Phogat questioned the lack of support from other sportspersons, Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra and several other top sportspersons on Friday lent their support to the wrestlers protesting against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
The country’s first-ever track and field Olympic gold medalist, Chopra said he was hurt to see athletes having to demand justice by protesting on the streets.
“They have worked hard to represent our great nation and make us proud. As a nation, we are responsible for safeguarding the integrity and dignity of every individual, athlete or not,” he tweeted.
