NEW DELHI: Stray dogs invading pitch during cricket matches is not a new sight in India and on Monday IPL 2023 match between Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants witnessed a delayed start owing to the same reason.
The unwanted interruption did not go well with the Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar who came down heavily on the ground staff on air. “Ground staff should ensure that such things don’t cause a delay,” he said.

Spectators cheered as the stubborn animal led a series of ground staff on a chase around the stadium in Chennai.
The dog, tail wagging, seemed to enjoy the spotlight before it was driven away and the match began after a five-minute delay.

Batting great Sunil Gavaskar was not amused by the turn of events and said “groundstaff should ensure that such things don’t cause a delay”.
