NEW DELHI: Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians on Friday named Abhishek Porel and Sandeep Warrier as replacements for injured Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah respectively for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
“While Porel joined DC for Rs 20 lakh, MI have brought Sandeep Warrier on board for Rs 50 lakh,” stated an IPL media release.

“Porel, who is a wicketkeeper-batter, has played 16 First-Class matches in addition to 3 List A and as many T20s for Bengal.
Sandeep Warrier, who has played for India, has thus far played 68 T20s and scalped 62 wickets. He was previously a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore, having played 5 IPL games,” the release further said.

Pant, who met with a horrific car accident late last year and ruled out of competitive cricket for at least one year, was an integral part of the Delhi franchise along with being their skipper.
A back injury followed by a surgery has ruled out the recuperating Bumrah from the upcoming season, which will be the first instance in 10 years that the right-arm fast bowler will miss an IPL edition.
