2011: Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians): 28 wickets
Malinga was already a big name when he joined the IPL and he went on to become an IPL legend too, thanks to his 10-year association with MI. Malinga was at his peak during the 2011 IPL, in which he was the Purple cap winner for taking the most wickets. Malinga is still the only Sri Lankan player to get his hands on the purple cap and the only Sri Lankan to win the IPL title four-times (2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019). In the 2011 edition, Malinga scalped 28 wickets in 16 matches at an economy of 5.95 with best figures of 5/13 against the erstwhile Delhi Daredevils.
