NEW DELHI: Star India opener Smriti Mandhana became the talk of the town on Monday as she was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a record Rs 3.4 crore at the Women’s Premier League auction in Mumbai.
Mandhana, who became the first ever buy at the WPL auction is now also the biggest signing of the league.
The opener was on cloud nine as soon as the gavel from the auctioneer settled at the whopping Rs 3.4 crore figure.
The whole India women’s cricket team, who is in South Africa for the Women’s T20 World Cup, was watching the auction as they erupted in sheer joy after Mandhana’s record bidding.
