Pele leaves behind an unmatched legacy

On July 7, 1957, the 16-year-old Pele made his competitive debut in an exhibition match against Argentina and scored in Brazil’s 2-1 defeat. Pele, who was 17 during the 1958 World Cup, made up for missing the first two games by scoring six goals in the remaining four.
