Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan calls for greater ‘opportunities’ | Cricket News – Times of India

DUBAI: Afghanistan spin wizard Rashid Khan on Monday said he has gained from playing in global leagues but the country's up and coming talent needs more exposure to top-flight opposition. The Mohammad Nabi-led side crushed Sri Lanka in the opener of the Asia Cup Twenty20 tournament and next take on Bangladesh in Sharjah on Tuesday. Rashid remains the brightest star in a galaxy of talented players many of whom have seen dark days in the war-torn nation, which witnessed another takeover by the Taliban last year. Despite the odds, the one-time minnows have made their presence felt among the cricketing elite since making their Test debut in 2018 in India. IND vs PAK: How Bhuvneshwar Kumar bounced out Babar Azam

Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowls at 130 kph range. He generally bowls full, so that he can maximise the air-time and get more swing – his primary art. He mostly sticks to a simple game plan – after several full-length away swingers, he bowls the in-cutter that’s slightly short of length. It’s the delivery that sneaks between the forward moving left stride that hasn’t yet been planted and the tentative bat to hit the stumps. But on Sunday, India’s new ball bowler struck the most-vital blow of the India-Pak Asia Cup with a very un-Bhuvi ball. He got Pakistan’s in-form captain Babar Azam with a bouncer. There’s a reason banging the ball in his half of the pitch isn’t a plan that Bhuvneshwar usually follows. Being from the Meerut gharana – Praveen Kumar being the famous ustaad of that cricketing hub...

“We changed the game of tennis,” Serena Williams, who is set to play in her last competitive tournament, the US open, later tonight tells the Time magazine. “We changed how people play, period. People never attacked. People never took balls early. People never served like this. People never had to play so hard to beat two Black girls from Compton.” The ‘we’ is of course herself and her sister Venus Williams. When pressed whether she sees herself as the GOAT (Greatest of All Time), Serena chose to answer it thus: “I don’t know any other person that has won a Grand Slam or a championship in the NBA or anything else nine weeks pregnant,” she says. “A two-week event. That tournament, I relied on my brain. An athlete isn’t just about what an animal you are physically, like a specimen. It’...

Sadio Mane poses emptyhanded as Bayern Munich teammates raise a pint of beer in photoshoot

Over the years, we have seen sportspersons snub a lot of things when it is in contrast to their personal beliefs. The most notable example of this was Cristiano Ronaldo when he openly set aside a bottle of Coca Cola and encouraged people to drink water at a press conference during Euro 2020. Sadio Mane is the most recent athlete to stand by his beliefs when in a recent photoshoot organised by Bayern Munich where most players posed by raising a pint of Paulaner beer, the Senegalese superstar was pictured with his hands down held together. The new Bayern signing is one of two practicing Muslim players in the squad and therefore abstains from drinking alcohol. The other player is Moroccan defender Noussair Mazraoui who was also empty-handed. #Anzeige | Tracht statt Trikot: Unser Team bei...
