Chasing a stiff 187, wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran (62 off 41 balls) and Rovman Powell (68 not out from 36 balls) hit belligerent fifties to keep them in the hunt as they needed just 29 runs from the last two overs. NorthEast United now have 13 points from 18 matches. SC East Bengal dropped to the bottom of the heap, having just 10 points from 17 outings. IND v WI, 2nd T20I: WI come up two sixes short

West Indies lost again, but this time they took the game deep and made India edgy. Even in the last over, with 25 runs required for victory, the tourists refused to throw in the towel. Rovman Powell (68, 36 balls) hit two towering sixes off Harshal Patel, prompting India captain Rohit Sharma to assemble his troops for a mini-conference. The two sixes had brought the equation down to 11 runs off two balls. As it turned out, the decision from the on-field conference was to take pace off the ball. A slower delivery outside off restricted Powell to a single, as India secured their 100th T20I victory. They beat the West Indies by eight runs in the second T20I to clinch the three-match series, on the heels of their ODI series clean-sweep. 🙌🙌#TeamIndia @Paytm #INDvWI pic.twitter.com/NjrkDCxt2...

Ranji Trophy: Lalit Yadav hundred helps Delhi grab Day 2 honours | Cricket News – Times of India

If Day 1 of the Delhi-Tamil Nadu Ranji Trophy clash in Guwahati belonged to Yash Dhull, the second day was owned by Lalit Yadav (177, 17x4, 10x6). The Delhi No. 7 batsman, who scored his maiden First-Class hundred, helped Delhi finish on 452 in the first innings on Friday. Tamil Nadu, in reply, were 75 for 2 at stumps. Lalit, who began the day at his overnight score of 45, raised his half-century with a maximum over mid-wicket region off medium-pacer M Mohammed. Despite losing Simarjeet Singh (19, 3x4) early in the day, Lalit showed no signs of his tempo dipping. Each time the Tamil Nadu bowlers erred in their lines, Lalit was more than happy to cash in. In the company of No. 10 Vikas Mishra (7), Lalit stitched a 92-run stand for the 9th wicket that took Delhi's total closer to the 400-...

Ranji Trophy: Sarfaraz Khan continues big-scoring spree

It took a long time and years of hard work for Sarfaraz Khan to find consistency and the ability to make big scores regularly. He seems to have reached that stage, judging by his 275 against defending champions Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy game in Ahmedabad. “Chhota score koi yaad nahi karta hai, bada banane ke liye bada hi marna padta hai (nobody remembers small scores, to become big, one needs to score big),” Khan casually says over phone. The Mumbai batsman continued his red-ball form from where he had left in pre-pandemic days. His last few Ranji Trophy innings include a 177, a 226 not out and an unbeaten 301. Champions League: Walker, Carrasco to serve bans after UEFA dismisses appeals

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker and Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco will remain suspended for three Champions League matches for assaulting opponents after governing body UEFA dismissed their clubs’ appeals on Friday. Walker was sent off in City’s last group stage game, a 2-1 loss to RB Leipzig, for kicking goal scorer Andre Silva while Carrasco received a red card in Atletico’s 3-1 win at Porto for raising his hands to midfielder Otavio as tempers raged. City already have one foot firmly in the next round after beating Portuguese side Sporting 5-0 in the first leg of the last-16 earlier this week, so Walker would miss the first leg of the quarter-final if they qualify. Atletico Madrid play Manchester United in their last-16 first leg next week. UEFA also said Porto de...

4th T20I: Untroubled Australia crush Sri Lanka by six wickets | Cricket News – Times of India

Australia eased to a six-wicket victory against Sri Lanka in the fourth Twenty20 international in Melbourne on Friday, barely needing to shift out of first gear as they heaped misery on the tourists who have yet to register a win in the five-game series. Chasing 140, the home side suffered some early jitters before the middle order steadied the ship, cruising to 143-4 with 11 balls to spare courtesy of a 20-ball 40 by Josh Inglis. Bowling with clever variations of pace, Lahiru Kumara (2-22) took the wickets of unconvincing opener Ashton Agar (26 off 31 balls) and captain Aaron Finch (two), who increased his run of scores without a half-century to 12. Inglis, who struck the only two sixes of the innings, partnered Glenn Maxwell (48 not out) at the crease with the side at 49-3 in the nint...
