arsenal: Late Rodri goal gives Manchester City 2-1 win over 10-man Arsenal | Football News – Times of India

LONDON: A stoppage-time goal from midfielder Rodri gave Premier League leaders Manchester City a 2-1 win at Arsenal on New Year's Day as the home side finished a thrilling encounter with 10 men following the sending-off of defender Gabriel. Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta missed the game due to a positive COVID-19 test, but his side cast aside any lingering memories of their 5-0 thrashing at the hands of City in August as they pressed high up the pitch from the first whistle. NEW DELHI: Days after retiring from all forms of cricket, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has dropped a bombshell by claiming that some Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials were responsible for his ouster from the national team, and former skipper MS Dhoni "may have supported that." The 41-year-old last December announced his retirement from all forms of competitive cricket. The legendary spinner has opened up about the treatment he received from some BCCI officials. India vs South Africa: India have more collective experience in line-up than South Africa, says Hashim Amla | Cricket News – Times of India

JOHANNESBURG: Legendary South Africa batter Hashim Amla says more "collective experience" in the Indian side was one of the key factors in the visiting side's comfortable victory in the series-opener at Centurion. India beat South Africa by 113 runs in the first Test at SuperSport Park to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. "It was a fair result," said Amla in Cricket South Africa website. "They (India) have been a strong unit over the last two years or so. They have more experience collectively and it always makes a huge difference when you have runs on the board to back you up." South Africa did not have many experienced players in their ranks with only skipper Dean Elgar, Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi having some decent exposure in traditional format while India had...

India vs South Africa: Jasprit Bumrah as vice-captain is surprising to me, says former selector Sarandeep Singh | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: KL Rahul was appointed as India's stand-in ODI captain for the 3-match ODI series against South Africa starting January 18 by selectors in the absence of newly appointed white-ball captain Rohit Sharma. The carry-on during the winter, and at the start of the English summer, should not happen again," Atherton wrote in his column for 'The Times'.
