Pune: Amid the ongoing debate over the viral picture which broke the internet post Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan’s arrest in the high-profile drug bust case, Pune Police on Thursday issued a lookout circular against KP Gosavi – the self-styled private detective who was seen in the selfie.
Aryan Khan was subsequently arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with the seizure of several banned drugs onboard a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta confirmed that city police have issued a look-out circular against Gosavi, news agency PTI reported.
Gosavi was booked for allegedly duping a Pune-based man on the pretext of offering a job in Malaysia. According to reports, the circular has been issued to prevent Gosavi from fleeing the country.
“We have issued a lookout circular notice against KP Gosavi, who has been absconding in a 2018 cheating case registered against him with the Faraskhana police station,” Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta said.
The development comes after Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson Nawab Malik alleged that Gosavi and Manish Bhanushali, also seen with those detained from the cruise party, had connections with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The complaint against Gosavi was registered in 2018 under various IPC sections, including 420 (cheating), and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.
Meanwhile, the NCB has informed a special court its probe has revealed that Aryan Khan was involved in illicit drug trafficking as well as its procurement and consumption.
Aryan Khan’s counsel who has sought for bail of his client has contended that the accused in the present case are young adults and not drug peddlers, traffickers or racketeers.
Tha lawyer argued that there was no recovery of any contraband from Aryan Khan. So far 20 persons have been arrested in the case.
