Sitapur: A woman has been booked for murder and arrested for slitting the throat of her boyfriend with whom she was in a relationship for the last three years.
The woman identified as 35-year-old Rajni has confessed to her crime, according to police. This took place after a case on charges of murder was registered against her on the complaint of the family members of the deceased.
Laharpur Station House Officer (SHO) R.S. Dwiwedi said the bloodstained knife used in the crime has been recovered, adding the fingerprints on it have been collected by the forensic team.
The incident took place in Laharpur police circle of Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district earlier on Monday evening when Rajni caught her boyfriend Rajesh, who was seven years younger to her, having a telephonic conversation with some other woman.
“Rajni got agitated and asked Rajesh who was the woman over the phone twice, but he refused to divulge the details and failed to convince her. In a fit of rage, Rajni picked up a knife and slashed his throat,” IANS quoted Dwiwedi as saying.
“Rajesh slumped to the ground and started bleeding profusely. Villagers rushed to the spot and took him to the local community health centre where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” he added.
