
At least 138 flights to and from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) were cancelled on Friday, amid escalating tension along the India-Pakistan border. Delhi Airport authorities also issued an advisory urging flyers to follow all baggage regulations and cooperate with security staff.
At least 63 arriving and 66 departing domestic flights were cancelled at the airport as of 9 pm on Friday, said a source. Four international arrivals and five international departures were also cancelled during the same period, the source added.
In an advisory posted on X, the Delhi Airport stated that while airport operations remain normal, some flight schedules may be impacted “due to evolving airspace conditions and strengthened security measures”. It also urged passengers to avoid spreading or relying on unverified information.
Airlines have issued advisories asking passengers to report at least three hours before their flight’s departure. “In view of an order by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on enhanced measures at airports, passengers across India are advised to arrive at their respective airports at least 3 hours prior to scheduled departure to ensure smooth check-in and boarding. Check-in closes 75 mins before departure.,” Air India posted on X.
IndiGo also issued a similar appeal, stating: “We request you to allow some extra time for your journey to accommodate security checks and formalities.”
India has already suspended commercial flight operations at 27 airports, mainly those close to the India-Pakistan border or housed at key Air Force bases.
