The smartphone will succeed the Asus 6Z. The Asus 6Z’s key feature is its flip camera. It runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC with Adreno 640 GPU and 5000mAh battery.
While the Zenfone 7 is expected to be a well-rounded flagship, the ROG Phone III may set a new standard for gaming smartphones, just like the ROG Phone II. It was the first smartphone to launch with Snapdragon 855+ SoC in India. The phone recently received a Wi-Fi certification and this suggests that the third gaming phone by the company is on its way for launch.
The pricing will also be a major factor in deciding whether buyers who are, at the most, casual mobile gamers, would consider the ROG Phone III. The ROG Phone II was launched at a base price of Rs 37,999 for the 8GB+128GB RAM and storage variant. The price tag brought it closer to flagships by OnePlus, which is unusual for a gaming phone. The first ROG Phone is still selling at Rs 69,999 on Flipkart.
As per Asus, the ROG Phone II brought several world’s-firsts to a smartphone like a 2.96GHz 7nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, True 10-Bit HDR AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and a 6000mAh battery. The Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC is coupled with a 675Hz Adreno 640 GPU. These specs make the ROG Phone II one of the most-powerful gaming smartphones in the world today.
